Dear Friends,
I’m going to give you six symptoms, let’s see if you can tell me what they have in common: chronic sinusitis, joint pain, anxiety, headaches, bloating, and fatigue.
Can you figure it out?
Whenever patients come to me with any of these symptoms one of the first things I think about is inflammation. Chronic, low-grade inflammation is sneaky, and shows up as pesky symptoms like these—non-life-threatening but most definitely life-impeding.
You want to thrive and show up as the best version of yourself every day, but chronic low-grade inflammation can get in the way of that.
So what can you do?
Regular acupuncture sessions can help to reduce inflammation significantly. But we want to do more than just keep symptoms at bay! We also want to figure out what’s causing inflammation so those symptoms don’t show up in the first place.
Hidden food sensitivities are one of the biggest culprits.
You might eat a “healthy” diet, but the truth is that different foods are healthy for different people at different times in their lives. And if your gut isn’t in tip-top shape, there are some foods that might help your neighbor thrive while they lead to inflammation in you.
Every body is different.
Unfortunately, while there are blood and skin-prick tests to identify food allergies (food allergies being strong immune reactions where IgE antibodies lead to symptoms like hives, swelling, and anaphylaxis,) there aren’t any reliable tests to identify food sensitivities.
So the best way to figure out if you have a food sensitivity is to do an experiment on yourself called an “Elimination Diet”.
If you suspect that you might have a food sensitivity, or you have persistent symptoms that you can’t figure out, click here to read more about the how and why of doing an elimination diet.
And if you haven’t been in for acupuncture in more than a month, or you have some symptoms that you’d like to diminish, call us today to set up your next appointment (503) 372-6463.
Prevention is the best medicine, and we love supporting you!
Warmly,
Katerina and the Mill-E-Moto team
