Misako Yamamoto

Her Approach is Compassionate, Intuitive, and Deeply Grounded

With ~25yrs of experience in Traditional East Asian Medicine (TEAM), she specializes in addressing emotional and spirit-centered imbalances. Her work is rooted in the classical foundations of TEAM and shaped by Daoist, Buddhist, and east Asian shamanic cosmologies, as well as Indigenous Wisdom traditions.

Misako is a Japanese-American free and playful spirit; born in Kobe, Japan and raised in Portland, Oregon speaking English & Japanese. 

 

She is the keeper of her family’s ancestral scroll, and her father’s lineage traces back to the 11th century BCE—early roots of Samurai society. She is descended from three generations of maternal ancestors who endured the injustice of wartime incarceration in Japanese American concentration camps during World War II.

 

Misako's deep connection heritage allows her to draw strength and resilience from her ancestors as they continue to guide her path forward.

Brief Bio

An avid athlete, Misako understands the mind/body/spirit ethos and nature of disease/wellness spectrrum. Her specialties include women’s wellness as well as spirit & emotion-based illnesses.

  • Bachelor degrees: Psychology &  Japanese Studies; University of Oregon (1995)

  • Masters Degree: Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine; Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (2004)

Cancer Survivors

Misako continues to work with the Survivorship Collective; as a psilocybin facilitator & Qi Gong instructor. 

 

The non-profit aims to "leads the movement for patient-centered psychedelic support for the cancer community."

Ancestral Healing

"My grandparents, great grandparents and relatives were imprisoned in the US concentration camps for 3 years during WWII; My mother was born at the Tule Lake concentration camp1945."

Misako is called to work with healing intergenerational & collective trauma. In particular, those with lineages affected by the WWII concentration camps.

Veterans

As part of the  Cora Center, Misako assisted the nation’s first group of veterans & their spouses as part of the Heroic Hearts Project.

This organization provides access to psychedelic healing for veterans and their spouses/families suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).​
