Join Ryan for a four week series of mindful-based movement & stretching. Each class will start and finish with a brief sitting meditation. The majority of time will be spent exploring a series of traditional Okinawan stretches & movements (seated & standing). At the end of the series you will have learned a seated & standing stretching/movement routine that you can practice on your own.

This series is based on the foundational stretching aspects of Uechi Ryu, a traditional Okinawa martial art. In particular, we will focus on Junbi Undō, a series of standing movements that focus on tendon stretching; these are not 'martial' in application (i.e. no 'karate' will be taught).

Ryan has continuously practiced Uechi Ryu Karate-Do, for 20+ years with Clark Jones (deceased 2022) and now under the guidance of John Evans. Both of his teachers have continuously studied with Walter Mattson, who in turn has been under the guidance of Grandmaster Shintoku Takara for 50+yrs. In the fall of 2021 Ryan was requested to test for the rank of 6th Dan and was granted the rank/title of Renshi.
