Misako was born in Kobe, Japan and raised in the Portland area speaking both English and Japanese. She received Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Japanese from the University of Oregon in 1995.

In 2000-2001, After spending 8 months on a solo, self reflective trek through five East & South-East Asian countries, she arrived back to Portland realizing that what she was seeking was now right in front her. She promptly  began her acupuncture training at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, receiving her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2004.

Misako’s approach to healing is primarily intuitive.  Classical Chinese theories of illness state that disease arises from emotional and spiritual imbalances. Based upon these tenets, Misako seeks to uncover and treat the roots of illness, which can often begin with a stagnation of energy at the deeper soul or spirit levels. Using her training in Toyohari as a foundation, she combines gentle Japanese acupuncture styles, coupled with Qi Gong, Qi Gong tuina, shiatsu massage  and Chinese herbal therapies to bring about subtle changes in the bodies Qi (energetic life force). This is often enough for the bodies’ innate healing capacity to awaken and continue the healing process. Misako has been studying/practicing Qi Gong since 2001 and is currently enrolled in Ling Gui International Healing Qi Gong School studying advanced techniques of Qi Gong healing. She offers Qi Gong classes at Mill-e-Moto in Beaverton.

An avid athlete with a solid foundation in gymnastics, running, rock climbing, and stand up paddle surfing, Misako also understands the physical causes and nature of disease. Her specialties include women’s health as well as spirit & emotion based illnesses.
